San Diego, CA 92108

What are your office hours?
My office hours are 11 AM to 7 PM Tuesday and Thursday.
Is there access to parking?
Ample parking is available.
How long is a typical session?
My sessions are 50 minutes.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept health insurance. I see private-pay clients only.
How do I set up an appointment?

You can call or text at (619) 417-4923 or email me at rkasts3@sbcglobal.net. I will usually respond within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If the client cancels 24 hours before the session or does not show up for the session, they are responsible for the cost of the session unless for emergency reasons.
What is the age range of your clients?
I see clients from age 18 to the elderly.
Do you have a gender preference?
I have no gender preference.
Do you assign homework?
Yes, I often give reading and workbook assignments. The reason is that the more a person hears the same message differently, the quicker they will make the information their own and put it to use.
What treatment approaches do you use?
For couples and families, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). For trauma, I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR); for anxiety and secondary symptoms of depression, I use Mindfulness and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
What is your training?

I attended an externship for EFT around 2008, followed by group supervision for approximately five years. In 1998, I received training in EMDR-1 training. I received a certification in 2006 but let the certification lapse. However, I’ve been practicing EMDR with great success for trauma since 1998.

My training in CBT-1 occurred in 1998, and I have extensively used it with excellent results. I have done extensive reading on Mindfulness and have used it in my practice since 2016.

What is the best way to utilize therapy?
From personal experience, the best way I know is to think about and question what occurred during your appointment. Before the next meeting, I suggest you consider what you want to address and what questions or topics are important to you. In addition, you should follow through by completing homework assignments.
