“Man know thyself.”
– Ancient Greek Philosopher Socrates, 300-400 BC
Connection with self is a life-long endeavor.
Searching the attic means knowing and understanding those inner thoughts and emotions that can heal the maladies that have plagued you throughout your life. Self-doubts, worries, and anticipation about future events keep you restless at night, causing you to wake up in a cold sweat.
It’s 3 AM, and you can’t stop thinking about everything that can go wrong the next day. Then comes the tightness in your chest, butterflies in your stomach, tossing and turning in your bed, and looking at the clock.
As you lie in bed, you think, “I have a big day tomorrow, and I’m not gonna get the sleep I need!” You can feel the adrenalin course through your body as you think that thought, feeling flushed, hopeless, and having mixed feelings of anticipation.
Boy – isn’t that the wrong formula for getting a good night’s sleep?
The past can be a burden to bear.
A core belief system about who you think you are is a Grimm fairy tale at best, one that would make the wicked witch of the north pale in comparison.
Things your mom, dad, siblings, and peers told you as a child have now shaped your life as an adult, and you carry those thoughts with you into every situation you encounter.
You can hear the voices from your past, but now think they are your own. Those voices shape you, creating a belief system that has gone awry, complete with undue anxiety, fears, and doubts.
Oh, those doubts continually plague you, making you doubt whether you can accomplish whatever the task may be.
Perceived failures are easier to recognize than successes.
The basis of self-esteem is the successes we experience every day, and that self-esteem helps build confidence. This confidence allows you to do the most difficult things – making you think, “Yes, I can do that!”
But the person who battles with self-worth struggles to acknowledge their success, only their perceived failures. The achievements are there, but the wires are crossed in the brain.
Those crossed neural pathways will not allow those successes to occur. Unfortunately, you just don’t see your successes. You cannot get it and think, “Boy, I did an outstanding job!”
Let me help you focus on perceived successes
Take it from me; connecting with self is a mixed bag but very fixable and doable. Once you understand the cause and get behind its mechanics, fixing the problem is no different from changing the carburetor from your old Buick.
Create new habits and ways of thinking, which will widen those neural pathways in the brain to allow for “perceived successes!” Yes, PERCEIVED SUCCESSES are the outcome you truly deserve. Once you understand the problem, you can undo it and replace it with an accurate version of who you are and NOT who you think you are.
I can help you, but you must take the plunge and want to leave that old self behind. I know it’s scary to step into the unknown. After all, you know this self, it’s predictable with all its self-doubts, fears, and misery, but it’s safe. Yes, safe; even in misery, there’s safety.
But I can guarantee it’ll be nothing less than the ride of your life if you’re willing to make that leap to commit. If you can commit, I will be there by your side, guiding you every step of the way. That’s my commitment to you.
